Poovar
Beach is approximately a 45 minutes drive from Kovalam. Poovar Beach
serves as the dividing line between the Neyyar River and the sea.
Essentially a fishing village, Poovar Beach is a beautiful less
explored, less ventured beach destination. Poovar Beach is accessible
by water taxis only. Beach activities and other adventurous water
sports are not welcome because of the majority fishing population.
But Poovar Beach remains as a unique natural paradise for its solitude,
calm ambience far away from the madding crowds.
Sight Seeing
Poovar Beach is the perfect destination for weary souls thirsty
for ultimate relaxation. Poovar Beach has a landscape embedded with
golden sands, sensuous streams, swift flowing rivers, sea kissing
green coconut and palm trees. The Neyyar River is of great importance
to the villagers as it is their major means of transportation, bathing
and washing clothes. The Poovar Beach is recognized as a ‘virgin
natural territory’ nonchalant of the worldly transformations.
Beach Activities
The Poovar Beach is ideal for relaxation, as you will have plenty
of peace and solitude for yourself. You can laze around and sunbathe
on the sandy beaches of Poovar Beach. A leisurely walk through the
village will give you an insight into the traditional village culture
of Kerala. Taste the local flavor of fresh seafood of Kerala from
the seaside stalls and drink a lot of cool and refreshing coconut
waters.
